Open the register and make your first sale
Open a cashier session with an opening float, sell items, take a cash payment, then close the register at the end of the shift.
This tutorial walks you from the start of a shift to your first cash sale in the Web POS. It takes about 3 minutes.
Before you start
- You are signed in to the Business Portal as an Owner, Manager, or Staff member with POS access.
- You have at least one active product in stock. See Product catalog.
- The Web POS cashier channel is on in Settings → POS. When Web POS is off, the Open POS button sends you to the Desktop or Android app instead.
Steps
Open the POS from the dashboard
From the Dashboard, click Open POS at the top right. The Web POS opens full screen.
Open the register with an opening float
If no cashier session is open yet, the Open register dialog appears. Count the cash in the drawer, enter it as the Opening balance, then click Open register.
This opening balance is the starting point for Expected in drawer when you close the register later.
Search for a product
Type a product name or code in the Search box, or scan its barcode. Matching products appear in the product list right away.
Add products to the cart
Click a product to add it to the cart. Make sure each quantity and price is correct. Use + and − to change a quantity, or the delete icon to remove an item.
Click Pay Now
Check the cart total, then click Pay Now.
Choose Cash and enter the amount received
Choose Cash, then enter the Cash Given or press one of the Quick Cash buttons. Bakasir calculates the Change right away.
Complete the payment
Click Complete Payment. The sale is saved and the receipt is issued.
Check the receipt and start a new sale
Check the receipt on screen and print it with Print Receipt if needed. Click New Sale to serve the next customer.
At the end of the shift
When the shift ends, open the register menu and choose Close Register. Count the cash in the drawer, enter it as Counted cash, then confirm. Any difference from Expected in drawer is recorded in the register report.
Tips
- One cashier per terminal. Another cashier cannot use a terminal while its session is still open. Close the register before the shift changes.
- Manual discounts and tax entered by Staff need a Manager or Owner PIN.
- Lost connection? The Web POS keeps the sale and sends it when the connection is back.
Sales reports
Every sale appears right away in Sales → Transactions and on the Dashboard, in the time zone set in Settings → System.
