Sell with the Android POS

Add items, take payment and print a receipt on the Android terminal, with the layout for your type of business.

Android: sell with the POS

This tutorial walks through one sale on the Android POS, from the product list to the receipt. It takes about 3 minutes. The steps use the General layout, and the sections below explain what differs in the others.

Before you start

  • You are signed in and the register is open. See Shift, register and sales. The POS shows The register is closed until it is open.
  • Your products and prices exist in the Portal. See Products.
  • A receipt printer is connected if you want printed receipts. See Printer and devices.

Steps

Open the POS

On the Home screen, tap the big blue card that says Continue selling. The first time, a short tour points out the search, products, cart, customer, hold and pay buttons. Tap Next through it, or Skip.

Find a product

Type in Search products, tap Scan to use the camera, or scan with a barcode scanner. Tap a category such as All to narrow the list. The grid and list buttons switch the view.

Add it to the cart

Tap a product card. A product with variants asks you to Choose a variant first. Tap again to add more. The cart shows the quantity and total. On a phone, tap View cart at the bottom to open it. On a tablet the cart is always on screen.

Adjust the cart

Use the plus and minus buttons for the quantity. Swipe a line to the left to remove it, then tap Undo if that was a mistake. Tap a line to set a Line discount (Amount or Percent), a Note, and Retail price or Wholesale price if one exists.

Choose a customer

Tap Customer, search by name or phone and tap the person. Members earn and redeem points. Without a choice, the sale is for Walk-in.

Tap Pay Now

Check the Subtotal, Tax and total, then tap Pay Now. The Payment window opens with the Total due.

Choose the payment method

Under Payment method, choose Cash, Card, Bank transfer, QRIS, Digital wallet or Cheque. For cash, type Cash received or tap a Quick cash amount. The Change shows at once.

Confirm the payment

Tap Confirm payment. For non cash methods the full amount is recorded as paid with that method, so confirm that the customer has paid first.

Finish the sale

Payment received shows the total, the amount paid and the change. The receipt prints by itself if Print automatically after payment is on. Tap Print to print it, or Share to send it as text. After a moment, Start new sale (3) counts down. Tap Stay on this screen to keep the summary.

Layouts by business type

Bakasir picks the layout from your business type. For the same layouts on the web, see Web POS.

  • General: photo product cards in a grid or list, with the cart on the side.
  • Coffee: the menu with options. Each drink opens Size, Style (Hot, Iced, Less sugar, No sugar), Add-ons (Extra shot, Oat milk, Extra cheese) and a Custom option, with a quantity and Add.
  • Restaurant: starts with the Floor plan. Tables show Free, Occupied, Billed or Reserved and their seats, and you can filter by Floor. Tap a table to start its order, or Takeaway or no table. Choose Dine-in or Takeaway for the order. Add a Kitchen note if needed, and tap Send to kitchen to send the new items. Lines show Sent or Partly sent.
  • Supermarket: a scan first screen that says Ready to scan. Scan items one after another and the Last scanned item stays visible.
  • Pharmacy: products with batches. Choosing one asks for the batch, with the earliest expiry selected first (First to expire), and batches that expire soon are marked Expiring soon. Add the Dosage instructions such as 3x1, After meals or Before meals.

Hold and resume a sale

Tap Hold to park the current sale. Tap Drafts to see the held sales, then Resume to bring one back, or press and hold Hold to delete to remove it.

Discounts and approval

Tap Discount in the cart for an Order discount, or set a discount on a single line. A manual discount or tax change by a Staff cashier needs approval, so the payment window shows Manager or Owner PIN. A Manager or Owner types their POS PIN there. Promotions and qty prices apply by themselves and show as small badges.

If the server total differs from the phone total, the app shows Server total and the server amount wins.

Payment extras

  • Split payment appears when it is on in the Portal under Settings → POS (Enable split bill). Add each part with Add until Still due is zero.
  • Redeem points lets a member pay with loyalty points, down to the minimum your business set.

If the internet drops

The POS shows Offline. Sales are saved on this device and sent when the connection returns. Keep selling as usual. The payment window says Offline sale: it will be saved on this device and uploaded later, and the done screen shows Saved offline. Tap the queue chip at the top to see Offline sales and how many are waiting.

Tips

  • Today's sales. Tap the today's sales chip at the top of the POS for sales, transactions and average since the register opened.
  • Sounds and haptics. Change them in Settings.
  • Receipt style. The look of the receipt follows Settings → Receipt in the Portal.
