Set up your business

Check your business details, formats, tax, receipt, team and first products before you start selling.

Set up your business on day one

This tutorial walks you through the settings worth checking on day one, so that your receipts, prices, tax and reports are correct from the first sale. It takes about 15 minutes.

Before you start

  • You are signed in to the Business Portal as the Owner. Managers can only view Settings.
  • You have created your account. See Create your account.
  • You know your tax rate, and whether your prices already include tax.

Settings save by themselves

There is no Save button on most Settings pages. Every change is applied and saved as soon as you make it, and a small Saved message confirms it. If saving fails, Bakasir restores the previous value and tells you.

Steps

Check your business details

Open Settings → Business. Under Identity, check Business Name, Legal Name, Phone, Email, Website and Tax Registration No / NPWP. Under Business Address, check Address, Country, State / Region, City and Postal Code. These details are printed on receipts and invoices.

Set your time zone, currency and formats

Open Settings → System. Under Locale & Format, choose Timezone, Date Format, Number Format and Default Language. Under Currency, choose Default Currency, Currency Format and Rounding Mode. Every sale, report and dashboard uses this time zone, not the clock of the device.

Set up tax

On the same page, find Tax and click Configure. Turn on Collect Tax, choose Tax Mode (Inclusive when your prices already contain tax, Exclusive when tax is added on top), then enter Tax Name and Tax Rate (%). Click Done.

Check your outlet and opening hours

Back in Settings → Business, find Outlets. Check the Outlet Name, then click Save. To add another location, type a name in New Outlet Name and click Add Outlet. Further down, Opening & Closing Hours lets you set the daily schedule of the outlet.

Choose your receipt

Open Settings → Receipt & Invoice. Choose the POS Paper Size (56 mm, 76 mm or 80 mm) and a Receipt Design. Under Document Numbering, set the prefix of each document. Use Set Receipt Display to choose what is printed in the header, body and footer. A live preview shows the result.

Add your logo and colors

Open Settings → Branding & White Label. Upload Logo Light, Logo Dark and Logo Mini (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 5 MB each), then choose your Brand Color and Default Theme. The whole portal changes live as you try them.

Add your team

Open Staff → Staff List and click New Staff. Enter the name and email, choose a Role and the store access, and set a password. See Manage your team for roles and PINs.

Add your first products

Open Catalog → Product, click Add Product, and fill in the name, price, cost and opening stock. For many items at once, use Catalog → Import Products. See Add and manage products.

Make a test sale

Click Open POS at the top right, open the register, sell one item and check the receipt. See Your first sale.

Choose where your cashier runs

Open Settings → POS. Under Where will you run the cashier?, tick Web POS, Desktop app (Windows) and Android app as needed. This decides where the Open POS button takes you. If Web POS is not ticked, Open POS shows the Desktop and Android apps instead, with download links and your paired devices.

Pair a Desktop or Android device from Settings → Business, in the Terminals area. See Install and activate the Desktop app and Install and pair the Android app.

Other settings worth knowing

  • Default Opening Balance (Settings → POS): the cash a new register starts with.
  • POS PIN (Settings → POS): a 4 to 12 digit PIN that locks the Web POS after the time you choose.
  • Costing Method (Settings → System): Moving Average by default, or FIFO, or Batch-Specific. A change only affects future stock movements.
  • Notifications (Settings → Notifications): choose where low stock alerts and daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports are delivered.
  • Security (Settings → Security): add a passkey, require 2FA for your team, and see devices that are signed in.

See the full list in the Settings overview.

Try Bakasir with demo data

To explore with realistic numbers, open Settings → System and use Import Demo Data at the bottom. It adds a sample catalog for your business type and a year of sales, purchases and expenses.

Use demo data on a test business only

Demo data mixes with your reports. If you imported it by mistake, open Settings → Backup & Restore and use Reset Demo Data. It removes only the demo rows and keeps what you created. The action asks you to type your business name and can be undone for 60 seconds.

Tips

  • Do the tax step carefully. Tax mode and rate decide how every price is calculated at the register.
  • One time zone for everything. If a report looks one day off, check Timezone in Settings → System first.
  • Add outlets only when needed. Each outlet is billed as one store and has its own stock, registers and staff access.
