# Settings

> Change the language, theme, text size, sounds and checkout options of the Android app.

These settings belong to this device. They change how the app looks and sounds, not how your business is set up. Receipts, taxes and formats are set in the Portal. This tutorial changes the language and the theme, and then lists what else you can adjust. It takes about 2 minutes.

## Before you start

- You are signed in on the device. Every cashier can open Settings from the Home screen.

## Steps




### Open Settings

On the Home screen, tap the **Settings** tile (**Appearance, POS, device**), or tap your name at the top right and choose **Settings**.




### Open Appearance

On a phone, tap **Appearance** (**Theme, transparency, motion and haptics**). On a tablet it is already selected on the left.




### Choose the theme

Under **Theme**, choose **System**, **Light** or **Dark**.




### Choose the language

Under **Language**, choose **System**, **Bahasa Indonesia** or **English**. The app switches at once. On Android 13 and newer you can also set the app language in the Android system settings.




### Set the text size

Use the **Text size** slider to make text smaller or larger across the whole app. The sample sentence shows the result.




### Choose your sounds

Open **POS** (**Product layout, sounds and confirmations**) and switch **Scan and add sound**, **Remove sound** and **Payment, error and notification sounds** on or off. Changes are saved as you make them and the app shows **Saved**.




## Appearance

- **Reduce transparency:** use solid panels instead of frosted glass.
- **Reduce motion:** fewer animations and no shimmer.
- **Haptic feedback:** short vibrations when you tap, hold or finish something.
- **Pin store icon to home screen:** adds a shortcut with your store logo and name. Confirm it on your home screen. If the launcher cannot pin shortcuts, the app says so. The logo, name and colour follow your store settings in the Portal.

## POS

- **Product layout:** **Grid** or **List**.
- **Show product stock:** display the remaining quantity on product cards.
- **Confirm before clearing the cart:** ask first so a cart is never emptied by accident.

## Devices

Receipt printers and the cash drawer are set up in the Devices screen. Here you set:

- **Scanner Enter key adds the product** for USB and Bluetooth scanners that end a scan with Enter.
- **Camera scanner** to show the camera scan button in the POS.
- **Customer display** to show the cart on a second screen when one is connected.

## About

## Updating the app

Bakasir for Android has no built in updater. Install the newest version from Google Play, or download the newest APK from the same **Open POS** window you used to install. Your pairing and settings are kept.

## Tips

- **Bright counters.** Choose **Light** and keep transparency on for the best contrast, or **Reduce transparency** on older devices.
- **Slower devices.** Turn on **Reduce motion** for a calmer, lighter screen.
